1.Regarding Pepper steak:
Pepper steak is a quick and easy dish commonly enjoyed at home. It primarily features a combination of beef and green peppers, utilizing various cooking techniques to preserve the distinct flavors of both ingredients. This approach ensures that the dish retains the freshness of the green peppers and the richness of the beef, resulting in a savory and balanced flavor profile that is perfect for everyday meals at home.
2.Regarding beef:
It is recommended to choose tenderloin because it is the most tender cut of beef. It is lean meat without much fat, making it suitable for stir-frying.
For larger pieces of beef, it's important to first cut along the grain to ensure uniform size for each piece. When cutting, the knife should be perpendicular to the direction of the beef fibers to maximize tenderness.
After cutting, marinate the beef to enhance its tenderness and flavor.
3.Choice of green peppers:
There are various types of green peppers available, so you can choose according to your preference. If you prefer non-spicy options, you can choose sweet bell peppers, which are large and round. For those who enjoy spicy flavors, serrano peppers are a good choice as they have a spicy and aromatic taste.
4.Marinating duration for beef:
For this recipe, after cutting the beef, mix it with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, oil, and the whites of 1 egg. Marinate the mixture evenly for 30 minutes. Generally, it's not recommended to marinate beef for less than 20 minutes, as it may not fully absorb the flavors otherwise.
5.Cooking sequence:
First, stir-fry the marinated beef until cooked, then set it aside. Next, stir-fry the green peppers and other vegetables. Finally, combine everything together and stir-fry briefly. This method prevents the green peppers and vegetables from becoming overcooked, which can lead to bitterness.
6.Storage of pepper steak:
You can store any leftover pepper steak in a sealed container in the refrigerator. However, it's recommended to consume it within a short period, ideally within 1-2 days, to ensure freshness.
