Many people enjoy eating Fried Tofu, but it's important to pay attention to some cooking tips. Once you learn these techniques, you'll be able to master it easily! Let's learn together!

1.What is tofu?

Tofu has a long history. According to legend, it was invented around 164 BC by Liu An, grandson of Emperor Gaozu of Han in China. During his alchemical experiments on Mount Bagong in present-day Shouxian County, Anhui Province, he accidentally coagulated soy milk with gypsum, thus inventing tofu.

In China, Fried Tofu is not only a common home-cooked dish but also an important component of many regional specialty snacks.

2.How to choose tofu?

Actually, there are no strict rules for choosing tofu for this dish. However, for beginners, it's recommended to choose firm tofu. Compared to soft tofu, firm tofu has a denser texture, is less likely to crumble, and can maintain its shape well during cooking. This allows it to absorb and retain seasonings better, resulting in a smoother and more flavorful tofu dish.

3.What are some quick tips for cutting tofu?

①Use a specialized knife: A dedicated tofu knife is typically thinner, less prone to sticking, and cuts tofu more easily into pieces, making it quicker to cut tofu.

②Freeze the tofu: Freezing the tofu until it is slightly firm makes it easier to slice into even pieces or blocks.

③Cut thick slices: Cutting tofu into slices about 1 cm thick allows for quicker preparation.

4.Fried Tofu by the way?

Heat enough oil in a skillet or frying pan to cover half the thickness of the tofu pieces. Alternatively, if you have an air fryer, coat the tofu evenly with oil and air fry them, which can be a more convenient method for frying tofu pieces.

5.How to prepare the seasoning sauce?

You can adjust the seasoning sauce according to your taste preferences. Here's a basic recipe: mix oyster sauce, chicken broth, a moderate amount of water, and white sugar until well blended to create the sauce. Adjust the proportions to achieve your desired flavor profile.

These seasonings are commonly used in Chinese cuisine and can typically be found in Asian supermarkets or purchased online.

Fried Tofu is prized for its tender texture and rich nutritional value, making it suitable for various dietary preferences. Whether you are vegetarian or seeking a healthy diet, Fried Tofu can satisfy your needs. Below, I'll share a unique and delicious method to prepare Fried Tofu that is both simple and flavorful.
